Media Release - Year 12 Graduates encouraged to consider apprenticeships & traineeships

Posted on 18/12/2023

Graduating Year 12 students are being urged to consider a traineeship or apprenticeship as a lucrative ticket to almost every industry.

Apprenticeship Careers Australia (ACA) National General Manager, Luke Radford, said apprentices and trainees on average have a phenomenal amount of success in their careers.

ACA is Australia’s leading employer of apprentices and trainees in the healthcare, infrastructure, business, and trade sectors.
“With most apprenticeship and traineeship qualifications in high demand, completing an apprenticeship or traineeship leads to a future with strong job prospects,” Mr Radford said.
“Recent data supports this, with 94.9%  of trade apprentices and trainees in 2022 employed after their education.”

More than half (57%) of employers require previous work experience when hiring a new worker - something which an apprenticeship or traineeship offers.
“This pathway is ideal for those that prefer practical, hands-on learning. It also offers the opportunity for young people to earn while they learn and gain valuable work experience.” Mr Radford said.

“Apprenticeships or traineeships are available in almost every sector, and we are currently seeing high demand and predicted growth in industries such as health, as well as traditional trades like construction and automotive.”
